Mat on the Cover of Schweizer Soldat

Schweizer Soldat is a monthly magazine distributed to all 100 000 or so military members here in Switzerland.

What a surprise to us when we discovered Mat's face gracing the cover of this month's issue.

He looks mean, but he looks good nonetheless:-)

IT'S A GIRL!!!

Reagan Alexandra Müller was born on Monday, January 29th at 6:51am, weighing 4130gr/50cm (9.1 lbs/19.7inches).

This came to a surprise to all of us because her due date was for February 14th. After hearing my OBGYN's estimation that she weighed a whooping 3600gr 6 weeks before the due date, it dawned on me that this was indeed a very big baby.

If she weighed that much now, how much more would she gain in the remaining 6 weeks (or more)? We then opted for a planned C-section on February 2nd. I would check into the "Privatlklinik Linde" the night before, have the operation at 7:45am, nice and easy...or so I thought... Reagan thought otherwise.

Maybe she was feeling a little too cramped in there and felt the need to move, but almost one week before my scheduled C-section appointment, the contractions began. I endured 8 hours of contractions before phoning the hospital (I guess I thought they would eventually cease). When I got there, they were almost 3 minutes apart. At 4:30am the midwife phoned the surgical team who were all happily beaming to have been woken up so early. At 6:20 the surgery began and all went well.

I spent 5 days in the hospital, enjoying my private room until I found myself sharing it with my new Italian roomate, and sometimes up to 30 or so of her family members, which at that point I decided to cut my Club Med Holiday a little short and head home to face the music (at least minimal sleep is better than NO sleep!) So here we are, struggling to adapt to the big changes which litteraly occured overnight, but amazed by all of it just the same.
